  Westfalen Horse - Breeding Rules

Registration of Foals & Mares

Foals can be registered (foalbrand and pedigree-paper), if either the dam and/or the sire
has Westphalian pedigree-papers.
All sires must be licensed by a German Warmblood Association (any German Warmblood sire is accepted!) but he must have successfully passed the stallion approval test in Germany.
In exceptional cases the stallion approval test in U.S.A. can be accepted.
Besides Westphalian mares, other warmblood and Thoroughbred mares can be registered
and accepted as a broodmare for the Westphalian Association if they are of outstanding
quality.
